January 28: Milestones! Annie’sBlankets has reached a wonderful milestone-- over 80,000 blankets and towels (and various other warm, soft items) have received new life in animal shelters, rescue groups, veterinary clinics, and wildlife centers throughout the Central Coast of California and beyond. We thank the ongoing efforts of all our amazing volunteers who have joined the Annie'sBlankets team since the organization's founding in 2006. Onward to 90,000 (and more!) we go... one blanket and towel at a time!
January 24: Helping Rescued Rabbits. Annie’sBlankets is proud to have been part of the large team that pitched in to help Rabbit Haven nurture back to health the 127 rabbits Santa Cruz County Animal Control rescued from inhumane conditions in November, 2011. "Annie'sBlankets came through with a huge supply of sheets and towels," Rabbit Haven stated in its press release. Congratulations also go to Annie'sBlankets Monterey Count Volunteer Coordinator, Penny Mount, for coordinating the drop-off effort... and for supplying Rabbit Haven with 300 pounds of food for the rescued rabbits.

December 19: Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute: Giving Back. Annie’sBlankets thanks the staff at MBARI, in Moss Landing, California, for hosting in-house blanket drives since 2007. This year canine assitants Avi and Belle, pictured below, helped Annie'sBlankets president Jocelyn Douglas round up the blankets and towels that will keep Central Coast shelter animals warm this winter. Thanks, MBARI! Happy New Year!

December 11: Holiday Luncheon. Annie’sBlankets volunteers, some seen below, enjoyed a delicious luncheon at Ambrosia India Bistro in Aptos, California. Volunteers shared stories from 2011 and inspirations for 2012. Happy New Year, Annie'sBlankets volunteers!

October 24: Annie's Art. Annie’sBlankets thanks Santa Cruz artist, Laura Hartwick, for donating her talents to Annie's Art, the program which affords local artists the opportunity to interpret the Annie'sBlankets mission on a collection barrel. Laura, shown here with her Team Small Dog assistants Gustavo, Otter Pop, and Ruby, chose a flying carpets theme for her whimsical interpretation. Look for Laura's charming artwork in Bow Wowzer Botique, in Los Gatos, in the coming weeks. And when you do come by, bring some clean, gently-used blankets and towels.. Seen below are other Annie's Art creations featured at shops around the Central Coastl. For more information about how to participate in Annie's Art, please contact Annie'sBlankets at (831) 442-8098.
